Group stages, draws and advancement

Group draw methods, best third-placed teams and knockout seeding.

Drawing groups

  • Serpentine (by seed) — 1,2,3,4 then 8,7,6,5 for balanced groups.
  • Pot draw — UEFA style: pots by seed, one from each pot per group, random within pots.
  • Random balanced or fully random — for casual events.

Advancement

Set how many advance per group (usually 2). Enable Best third-placed teams to fill a bracket (e.g. 6 groups × 2 + 4 thirds = 16). Knockout pairings follow international conventions so group winners avoid each other early.

Two-legged ties

Football-style home and away legs are available for groups and knockouts, with aggregate scoring, optional away-goals rule, extra time and penalties.
